This course is open to anyone ages 13 and older. All genders welcome. Part of the proceeds will go as a donation towards supporting Team Dollhouse competitors at the Central Pole Championships. The championships were held in Chicago, IL on May 26 & 27th.
This session start from the premise that avoiding violence is the best, and are aimed at creating the best possible chance to escape quickly and safely.
The class will cover basic information on prevention as well as how attacks start. Skills taught focus on learning to recognize, avoid and de-escalate situations. These include strong body language, eye contact, verbal assertiveness as well as understanding the role distance can play. This session will include basic, practical physical skills for physical resistance. This will include basic strikes, kicks and blocks as well as practice to gain stability, balance and control once a situation has become violent. Controlled practice with partners would allow participants to see how these skills can be used most effectively in both grabbing and hitting situations.
